Historic Hope Cove

Hope Cove was a thriving fishing village which until its decline specialised in crabs & lobsters. There was an RNLI life boat stationed here until in 1930 it was combined with the Salcombe station. During the 2nd world war an RAF station was sited on Bolbery Down.

Hope Beach House was originally a pair of Edwardian semi-detached houses which later became the Hope Cove Hotel. In the 1990s the building was converted into holiday apartments. The pictures here show various views of Hope Cove in days gone by.
